Hi there!
This is a collective letter from the Russian DDM Guild Chapter. We have a proposition for you. We like Vassal, it's very useful, but it requires Java 1.5.0+ installed , due to the fact that Java is not a very popular environment, in many cases it's not already installed on the computer. In the situation when you don't have administrative privileges - you can't install Java. That thing encouraged us to write this letter and outspeak our proposition: there is a portable version of Java (http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable) wich works without installation, just from the flash-drive. We tried to make Vassal working with it, but Vassal doesn't work. It starts and after 1-2 seconds shots off. We would be very grateful if you could make Vassal work with this portable version of java. Like this: you insert flash-drive into computer and voila - you can play Vassal just from the flash-drive, without copying or installing anything on the hard-drive. Also, there is useful platform for portable programms for flash-drives (named "PortableApps.com Platform",
http://portableapps.com/suite) and it would be great if you could make Vassal work with it too, but that is not as necessary as making it work with portable Java.
With Best Regards,
